Can penile extender be effective in increasing the penis length? What does a study published in an Italian journal of Urology, BJUI, in their April issue says?
Let take a thorough analysis.
If you want to increase the length of your penis, you are not alone in the world. Male liking for Penis size has caused an enormous demand for penile lengthening treatment, both surgical and non-surgical.
Men from time immemorial are craving a longer penis than what they have. The ‘short penis syndrome’ seems to have affected men globally. They believe to have a small penis, although the dimensions of the penis are normal as per medical science.
Penile length increase is a controversial issue. The increasing demand for prolonging the penis has catapulted global medical research to find surgical and non-surgical solutions. We do not recommend the surgical procedure of penile lengthening. We will outline the non-surgical methods.Â
Penile lengthening surgical procedures, “lengthening Phalloplasty” results in a high rate of complications. Surgical procedures Phalloplasty’ does not have standardization and creates enormous postoperative complications.
It is the media that have propagated the non-surgical techniques. Scientific evidence does not support these procedures. There are many non-surgical techniques that include the application of vacuum devices and penile traction devices, and penoscrotal rings.
Some doctors may even recommend certain exercises such as the Kegel exercise to increase penis size. Media has played a significant role in popularising these exercises even among doctors. These Media propagated methods produce little or no efficacy. Any proven scientific evidence does not back most of these techniques.
We have considered penile extenders among the popularised traditional procedures that showed some scientific evidence to support the efficacy.
We briefly analyze the efficacy and scientific background of penile lengthening non-surgical procedures. The researchers mentioned here by an Italian journal of Urology found that doctors may consider penile traction devices for the first-line treatment.

Penile Extender Efficacy on penis length increase
Penile extenders are the only technique that has seen some evidence. The results achieved do not seem to be inferior to surgery. This makes these traction devices ideal for the first-line of treatment for patients.
Urologists compared 230 men between 2000 and 2009. The result of the research had shown that using surgical techniques, the flaccid penis length on average increased between 1.3-2.5 cm. By applying the 3 types of penile extenders, the flaccid penis length on average increased between 0.5-2.3 cm.
Based on an Italian review in a journal on Urology, BJUI, in April issue found that using a penile extender produced better results, almost equivalent t the surgical results, better than vacuum devices, therapy and exercises, and injections.
Urologists constantly dealt with men who are worried about their penis size. But most of them are normal-sized. Men may also have a ‘hidden penis’ characterized by being covered under the abdominal fat and skin in obese aging men. Men may also lack skin because of chronic inflammation or an aggressive circumcision.
Surgery can create complications and unwanted outcomes. That is why a non-invasive technique is recommended before trying the surgical options.
The review compared five evidence-based surgical studies covering 121 men and six evidence-based non-surgical studies covering 109 men, published between 2000 and 2009.

Key findings of the study on surgical technique
- The average age of the men recorded in the study was between 24-56
- The average time for follow up was between 3-16 months
- Surgical techniques caused the average flaccid size to increase between 1.3cm-2.5 cm.
- One report claimed that the highly invasive surgical procedure achieved up to 4 cm, but no reports or studies supported this as clinical evidence.
- Studies of 3 types of penile extenders caused the average flaccid penis length increase of 0.5-2.3 cm.
- The most common surgical technique used on 83% of patients was a dissection of the suspensory ligament.
- Most men underwent surgery with underdeveloped penises, Peyronie’s disease, tiny penises (micropenis), penile carcinoma, or trauma.
- Some patients had surgery because of dysmorphophobia, a psychological dislike of their bodies.
- 19 men with an erect penis length of 6-10 cm received the invasive surgery that involved penile disassembly with autologous cartilage
- 5 experienced moderate dorsal penile curvature after surgery
- The authors could foresee a high level of complication and dissatisfaction with the surgical technique.
Using Penile Extender
- 72 men used a penile extender
- 6 reported minor problems, with 3 experienced bruising and 1 each reporting temporary discoloration, pain, and itching.
- A study on the long-term effects of repeated vacuum treatment showed no significant physical change after six months of therapy.
- It provided a degree of psychological satisfaction for some men. 2 of the 37 males experienced side effects, with one hematoma (blood under the tissue) and one case of numbness recorded.
Exercises claimed penis length increase
- There is no scientific evidence to show that penile lengthening exercises work
- Despite this, it is very attractive to patients who like the idea of a non-invasive
- An inexpensive method of penis enlargement
- Widely discussed on the media and internet
- Many men feel bad about their small penis size when, in fact, very few seeking help have a micropenis.Â
- This suggests that therapy could play an important role in helping men to address their concerns.
Conclusion
There are no studies found that compared surgical and non-invasive methods of penile lengthening. The penile extenders appeared to be an effective and durable method of penile lengthening. This method can elongate the penis by an average of 1.8cm with minimal side effects.
This is a much better treatment method as compared to surgery, which is more invasive for the patient. Based on this research and evidence, we found penile extenders are the not surgical method that a doctor may suggest as the first-line treatment for men seeking to increase their penile length.
