Older men who frequently engage in sexual activities are at a higher risk for cardiovascular problems. According to a study done at Michigan State University, men between late 50s to mid-80s who enjoyed sex once a week or more were more likely to suffer from a heart attack or stroke in the next five years.
When compared to men who went without, the risk of issues were doubled for the men who were sexually active. Men who most enjoyed sex were at an even greater risk because of the stress that physical intimacy puts on the body.
The study revealed that while sex can pose a danger to older men, it did not affect women the same way. When older women frequently engaged in sex, it decreased their risk of future cardiovascular issues. It also helped women maintain a lower blood pressure.
