When you think of attraction, many would say that personality, physical attraction, and compatibility is among the most important aspects. Very few would think that olfaction (sense of smell) would play such a large role in attraction.
However, there are many “smelly” factors that go into the attraction you feel towards someone. It’s been shown that something as arbitrary as one’s diet has a huge effect on both your personal smell and someone’s reception of this.
For example, in one study men who ate more eggs and tofu or fruits were more favorable than those who ate seafood or carbs. Their skin color was also more favorable afterward, taking on a more yellow color than those who ate non-carotenoid containing foods.
Body odor has been shown to make a distinguishable difference as well, changing in odor across a woman’s cycle.
