A relationship coming to a close is an unfortunate reality that just about everyone will have to experience at one point or another in their life. A relationship concluding is not always a sign of misfortune as it could simply be one chapter in life coming to a close so that you may begin the next. It could be as simple as two people who just do not work together or as complex as an abusive relationship.
Now, research provides one with how far along they are in the conclusion of their relationship. The University of Tennessee took it upon them to research and provides the different stages of a relationship falling out. Where the study began focused on violent relationships, you will notice that it even works for couples who are simply unhappy with their relationship.
These Stages or factors are:
- No change being considered
- Starting to think about change
- Getting ready to end the relationship
- Initiating the relationship’s end
- Sticking with the relationship’s end
