We all text. We text at home, when we are out with friends, at work…it’s quickly becoming our number one way of communicating with the people that we are closest with. But what are the consequences to our love lives? It’s not just a problem for teenagers anymore. It’s not ingrained in our culture, and at what point, do we stop and reflect on how we are engaging with our significant others in this new medium?
Text allows us to be who we want to be, to engage on a clear, fast paced and deep level very quickly with those we are in a relationship, but what about dinner, dancing, or seeing a movie? Where has the touching, talking, nervousness and real communication gone? Has our love of texting replaced traditional dating, and even more worrisome, is it keeping us from having a real, true and honest relationship, face to face?
