It’s no secret that concerns surrounding STD’s are difficult for most men to discuss. However, it’s important for sexually active men to educate themselves on the risks. In some instances, this may mean consulting a professional.
The risk of having an STD is higher if you are a male under 25 years old who has a new sexual partner, has had many partners over the past year, or has not been a consistent condom user.
Men who have had a previous STD, men who have sex with men and men who have had intercourse abroad are also at high risk. Symptoms can include pain in passing urine or discomfort in the testicles.
Flu-like symptoms, fever and swollen glands are also red flags, however, sometimes you are asymptomatic. The best course of action, if you fall into a high-risk group, is to consult with your doctor.
