The topic of male body image avoidance and body dissatisfaction has often been highly contested. The male species is not as often scrutinized in the media for their appearances, as females often are; however that does not mean that men are not as aware of their body and how they are physically perceived.
All too often the thought of a man with a body image problem or an eating disorder is pushed aside, with the idea that he should just get over it. Preliminary results of the study documented show that men who are classified as gym users are more aware of their body image and are more prone to body dissatisfaction.
This dissatisfaction is a precursor to possible eating disorders. The importance of good nutrition is undervalued, and should be highlighted in the gym atmosphere.
