Emotional distance in relationships is a common occurrence. Here are five different things can cause stresses that create this type of distance.

One may be that your partner needs time alone.

Second, your partner may be stressed, or depressed.

Third, the loving feeling may be leaving your partner.

Fourth, your partner may try to create distance and take a step back if they feel you are overly needy.

Finally, this type of emotional distance in relationships can cause one to be very critical of their partner that leads to much more complicated issues. One way to help with these issues is to better communicate with your partner.

The 80-20 rule is a suggestion, where 80% of communication with your partner should be positive while only 20% should be critical.
